Mighty Men of God!
Hello, my name is Steven Falkner, and I attended Kansas City Tres Dias #9 where I sat at the table of Mark. It is my honor and pleasure to serve you this weekend as rector for KCTD #19! My wife Carrie and I have six kids, live in Gardner KS, and love serving the Lord!
Theme: “Repentance and Humility”
Our theme for the weekend is “Repentance and Humility”. Jesus said that the greatest of all the prophets was John the Baptist. John came preaching repentance of sins; this was his main message, stating “Repent for the kingdom of Heaven is near”.
From there he baptized people with water but said that another greater than him would come soon. Later, Jesus, the son of the Living God, came to be baptized. John didn’t realize that Jesus was the son of God until he saw the Spirit descend upon Jesus. Soon afterward, Jesus began his ministry. At this early stage, Jesus preached “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.” (Matt 4:17). For me, in praying for a message for this weekend, I wanted to defer to the Lord, and only do what I see the Father doing (John 5:19). Since Jesus made this his main theme, I think it’s time for us as well! I know I need more repentance and humility in my life, perhaps the rest of us too. Let’s learn Jesus’ first message together, and practice it. We will also learn not just about following Jesus, but also how to make disciples with other people.
