My name is Chris Wilson and I am honored to be your Rector for Kansas City Tres Dias #12 Men’s Weekend.  I attended North Florida Tres Dias #45 where I sat at the table of Peter.  When I went through my first Tres Dias weekend it was completely amazing!  There are really no words that can describe the amount of love that I felt.  I was surrounded by men that selflessly poured out their hearts in service and it’s because of the love I was shown I grew closer to Jesus in a way I had never felt before.  It was as if I could literally feel God’s presence.  The unity and fellowship of the men showed me the true love of Christ.  The true blessing was when I came back to serve and the feelings that came with it were even better than my first weekend.   It really does keep getting better!  Serving at Tres Dias is a way for you to give the gift back that was so freely given to you and to show the next set of candidates the true love of Christ.

My family and I worship and serve at Antioch Church in Overland Park, KS.  My beautiful wife Erika and I have been together for 5 ½ years and we will be celebrating our 2 year wedding anniversary on July 18th.  I am very blessed to be able to do life with my best friend every day.  My daughter Jordan is almost 15 and just finished up her first year of high school.  I’m so proud of the young woman she is becoming and her desire to follow Christ in all she does.  Our family truly does try to put God first in all we do.

The theme for Kansas City Tres Dias #12 Men’s Weekend is “Forgiveness”.  I was going in a completely different direction when God revealed this word to me.  Isn’t that the way it always goes?!  God knows and always has a better plan than our own!   I heard the Spirit of God say “Forgiveness” and that word kept coming up in different sermons and things I would read and friends I talked to, until it got revealed to me again by the Holy Spirit, “Forgiveness”.  Colossians 3:13 reads, “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone.  Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”  This is my scripture for the weekend as I believe God is calling us to forgive the people we are holding grudges against.  The Lord is calling us to stand up and lead the way for restoration and healing of His people.  Forgiveness has to start with us.  God desires a deeper and more intimate relationship with us and He wants to use us to further His Kingdom, but we must have our hearts in the right place.  We must forgive those that have offended us just as the Lord has forgiven us.

I hope you will consider coming to serve on this KCTD weekend, September 28th-October 1st.  I believe God is calling each and every one of you to be involved on some level.  If you are unable to serve on the actual weekend there are many other ways to give back to the community.  Prayer is the foundation of this ministry, so consider signing up on the Prayer Wheel to pray for the team and candidates during the weekend.  Off Campus Prayer Chas are also needed.  Prayer is an essential part of the armor that holds the weekend together.  You can sign up to bring food for the Thursday night sendoff meal, and/or for the team meetings.  Pray about who you would like to Sponsor on the weekend and start inviting people now.  Palanca is a fun way to give back, so donate Palanca for the weekend.  You can also support by attending the Thursday night send off, Saturday night serenade and/or closing ceremony on Sunday night.  If you are able, prayerfull y consider financially supporting our weekend by a one time or a monthly donation.  Pray and listen for how God would like you to be involved.

I would love to have you come back to serve on the team! I was told once by someone that “To receive a blessing, you should be a blessing.”  So please prayerfully consider being a part of what God is doing in this ministry.  I am so honored and privileged to be your Rector and I look forward to hearing from you.  If God is calling you to serve please email me at cawilson80@gmail.com or reach me at (785)691-7166.

DeColores,

Chris Wilson
